Time entry format
Certain company settings will change how you track time and the appearance of your time entries. Learn more in our article on time settings.
Depending on how Administrators have set up your account:
- Time can be tracked in decimal format or HH:MM format.
- If tracking start and end times, you may use a 12-hour or 24-hour clock.
Edit or delete time in the Calendar view
Everyone can edit or delete their own unlocked time. Administrators and Managers with special permission to edit time can also edit other people's time by clicking the Teammates button in the upper right corner of the timesheet.
Administrators can edit anyone's time, while Managers can only edit time for projects they manage and/or their assigned people.
Edit an unlocked entry in the Calendar view
To edit an entry from the Calendar view, you can click into the entry, make any edits to the entry details, and click Save entry. Or, you can drag and drop the entry to a new time period/day or resize an entry by dragging the top or bottom of a calendar event.
Edit a locked entry in the Calendar view
A time entry may be locked because it’s been invoiced or approved, or the project, task, or person related to the entry is archived.
Only Administrators can edit the Notes and start/end time on a locked time entry. To edit a locked entry in the Calendar view, click into the entry, make your changes to the Notes or start/end time, and click Save entry.
Administrators cannot edit the project/task combination for a locked entry, and locked entries cannot be resized or moved elsewhere on the grid in the Calendar view.
To unlock individual entries or an entire timesheet for further editing, please see our article on unlocking time and expenses for instructions.
Delete an entry in the Calendar view
Deleting a time entry is permanent and cannot be undone.
To delete an entry in the Calendar view, click into the entry and click the Delete link. Confirm you’d like to delete the entry by clicking Delete time entry.
Enable or disable the Calendar view
By default, the Calendar view is enabled for all users. If you’re an Administrator, you can enable or disable it for your workspace by following these steps:
- Go to Settings > Preferences
- Click Edit preferences.
- In the Calendar view section, choose whether to enable or disable the feature for your team.
- Click Save preferences to apply your changes.
Disabling the Calendar view will hide the Calendar tab from the timesheet interface for all users in your workspace but no data will be lost. Any time entries previously created from the Calendar view will remain intact and accessible from other views.
