Information about pricing plans
Harvest has two plans — Teams and Enterprise — each billed as Flex (usage-based) or Unlimited (fixed price). With Flex you pay a per-seat rate plus usage-based charges calculated on your prior billing period's activity: active projects, active clients, active tasks, and invoicing. Only items with time tracked in the period count — archived, deleted, or untouched items don't. Each plan includes a free usage allowance, and you're only charged for usage above it. For new accounts, usage-based charges begin at your second paid renewal. You can view current usage and projected charges, and model changes, in Settings → Billing (My usage billing / Compare subscription options → Simulate usage changes).
This article provides an overview of the available plans and their features, along with information about how to determine which pricing plan you’re on, why you might have different features than you expect, and what happens if you switch to a different pricing plan.
Overview of Harvest pricing plans
This section provides an overview of the available plans. Our pricing page has more details on the different plans, including exact features offered, pricing, available discounts, and a pricing calculator.
Harvest now has two plans — Teams and Enterprise — and each can be billed two ways: Flex (usage-based: you pay only for seats that are active in a period) or Unlimited (a fixed usage fee), on a monthly or yearly cycle.
If you're on a legacy plan, the in-app upgrade screen may show several options side by side, including a higher-priced Enterprise option — that figure is the cost of that specific plan, not a change to your current renewal. The exact price for your account and seat count is always shown in Settings > Billing before you confirm any change.
Our Free plan is for individuals looking to get started with tracking time. It has several limitations, including no more than one active person and two active projects at a time. You can learn more in our full article on the Free plan.
If you upgraded your account from a trial before November 7, 2024, you may be on one of our Legacy plans. Legacy pricing and features differ from what’s on our current pricing page, so please reach out to our support team if you have any questions.
How to determine which pricing plan you’re on
Knowing which pricing plan you’re on is helpful for understanding which features are available to your team.
Our trials are fully featured, with all the features of the Enterprise plan (with the exception of SAML-based SSO, as explained later in this article). We want you to experience Harvest at its full power so you can make an informed decision about which features are useful for your team when it’s time to upgrade.
If you’ve already upgraded but are not sure which plan your account is on, Administrators can find that information in the Billing details section of their Settings.
Managers and Members don’t have access to Settings. If you have Manager or Member permissions and don’t see a feature in your account that you think would be helpful for your team, please reach out to an Administrator in your account. They can let you know whether the feature is included in your account’s plan but not currently enabled, or whether it’s not included in the current plan but may be worth upgrading for.
Choosing a plan after your trial
When your trial ends, you'll be taken to a checkout screen to select a paid plan. This screen pre-selects Enterprise + Annual by default. Before completing your purchase, you can use the plan and billing interval toggles on the checkout screen to choose a different plan (e.g. Teams) or billing frequency (monthly vs. yearly). If you subscribe without changing the defaults, your account will be set up on Enterprise + Annual.
Why you might have different features than you expect
In some cases, the features in your account might not line up with what you expect based on Help Center articles or other information.
This section explains most of the differences you might see, but if you have any other questions, please contact our support team.
Trials don't have access to SAML-based SSO
The one exception to offering the full range of Harvest's features in trials is SAML-based SSO, which is offered only on the paid Enterprise plan. This is because if an account were to trial it and then didn't upgrade to Enterprise, undoing it could be complex and risk their team losing access to the account.
Your Legacy account may have Enterprise features
We're currently offering some of our Legacy customers free access to Enterprise features, such as profitability reporting and the activity log, for a limited time.
What happens when you switch to a different pricing plan
Upgrading from Teams to Enterprise
Upgrading from Teams to Enterprise If you're on the Teams plan and upgrade to Enterprise, you'll immediately have access to the additional Enterprise features. You'll also be charged a prorated amount for the difference in price for the time remaining in your billing period.
Upgrading from a Legacy plan to Enterprise
If you're currently on a Legacy plan and upgrade to Enterprise, you'll immediately have access to any additional features (or retain them). You’ll also be charged a prorated amount for the difference in price for the time remaining in your billing period.
You may also switch billing systems, which is why you may need to re-enter credit card information in the process. See our article on our billing system transition for more information.
Switching from a trial or from Teams to Enterprise
Both trials and Enterprise accounts have more features than Teams accounts. When you switch to Teams, you'll lose access to Enterprise-only features:
- Activity log: You’ll lose access to the activity log. If you switch (back) to Premium, you’ll once again be able to see up to six months of history.
- Custom reports: Each person can keep and edit existing custom reports but can’t create more after reaching the 4-report limit.
- Profitability report: You’ll lose access to the profitability report.
- Required notes: Teammates will no longer be required to enter notes when tracking time.
- SAML-based SSO (only available in Premium accounts, not in trials): You won’t be able to schedule a downgrade to Pro until you disable SAML.
- Saved and shared reports: You won’t be able to save or share reports, and all recurring reports and exports will be stopped. If you switch (back) to Premium, you’ll be able to see previously saved and shared reports again.
- Timesheet approval: You won’t be able to submit, approve, or withdraw approval from time and expense entries. Approved entries will remain locked. If you want to edit your approved timesheets after downgrading, you should withdraw approval before switching.
- Slack integration: The Slack integration is available only on Enterprise, so it will be disconnected on Teams. (Xero and other Teams-tier integrations are unaffected.)
Why is my second bill higher than my first?
On Flex billing your first (sign-up) invoice usually covers seats only, because no projects, tasks, clients, or invoices have been tracked yet. Usage-based charges are calculated from the previous billing period, so they first appear at your renewal — not at sign-up. This is why a bill can jump (e.g. from a seats-only $44 to $404 once usage is added). To see the exact breakdown at any time, go to Settings → Billing → My usage billing. If you'd prefer a predictable flat cost with no usage charges, switch to Unlimited billing.
Note that in the case of downgrading from Enterprise to Teams, the switch isn’t immediate. Instead, you can schedule the change for your next regular subscription renewal date. You will continue to have access to Premium features until that date.
