Information about pricing plans
Once you finish your trial period, you can choose from three different pricing plans—Premium, Pro, or Free—each tailored to different use cases and needs. You may notice a matrix at the top of many Help Center articles clarifying which plans offer the features discussed.
This article provides an overview of the available plans and their features, along with information about how to determine which pricing plan you’re on (if you’ve already upgraded), why you might have different features than you expect, and what happens if you switch to a different pricing plan.
Overview of Harvest pricing plans
This section provides an overview of the available plans. Our pricing page has more details on the different plans, including exact features offered, pricing, available discounts, and a pricing calculator.
Our Premium plan is built for teams that need to track profitability, audit and approve time entries, and benefit from streamlined security controls. This is the only plan that includes features like profitability reporting, an activity log, and SAML-based SSO.
Our Pro plan is built for teams that need to track their time, analyze time spent, and generate invoices to get paid faster.
Our Free plan is for individuals looking to get started with tracking time. It has several limitations, including no more than one active person and two active projects at a time. You can learn more in our full article on the Free plan.
If you opened your account before November 7, 2024, you may be on one of our Legacy plans. Legacy pricing and features differ from what’s on our current pricing page, so please reach out to our support team if you have any questions.
How to determine which pricing plan you’re on
Knowing which pricing plan you’re on is helpful for understanding which features are available to your team. If you’ve already upgraded but are not sure which plan your account is on, Administrators can find that information in the Billing details section of their Settings.
Managers and Members don’t have access to Settings. If you have Manager or Member permissions and don’t see a feature in your account that you think would be helpful for your team, please reach out to an Administrator in your account. They can let you know whether the feature is included in your account’s current plan but not currently enabled, or whether it’s not included in the current plan but may be worth upgrading for.
Why you might have different features than you expect
In some cases, the features in your account might not line up with what you expect based on Help Center articles or other information.
This section explains most of the differences you might see, but if you have any other questions, please contact our support team.
For trials, the date you opened the account matters
Our trials are fully featured, with all the features of the highest pricing plan (with the exception of SAML-based SSO, as explained in the next section). We want you to experience Harvest at its full power so you can make an informed decision about which features are useful for your team when it’s time to upgrade.
However, for trials opened before November 7, 2024—when we updated our pricing to its current version—“fully featured” means all of the features of our Legacy plans. Those plans don’t include some Premium features, like profitability reporting and an activity log.
If this is the case for your trial, please check the matrix at the top of most Help Center articles for Legacy availability (rather than Premium).
No trials have access to SAML-based SSO
The one exception to offering the full range of Harvest’s features in trials is SAML-based SSO, which is offered only on the paid Premium plan. This is because if an account were to trial it and then didn’t upgrade to the Premium plan, undoing it could be complex and risk their team losing access to their Harvest account.
If you’re in a trial that was opened on or after November 7, 2024, you can generally be guided by Premium availability in the matrix at the top of most Help Center articles, except for SAML SSO.
Your account may have helped beta test a feature
Some Legacy accounts may have features that are otherwise only available on Premium, such as profitability reporting, activity log, and SAML-based SSO. In most cases, this is because they helped beta test the feature and have continued access to it for the time being as a thank you for their valuable feedback.
What happens when you switch to a different pricing plan
Upgrading from Pro to Premium
If you currently have a Pro subscription and upgrade to Premium, you’ll immediately have access to any additional features. You’ll also be charged a prorated amount for the difference in price for the time remaining in your billing period.
Switching from a trial or from Premium to Pro
Both trials and Premium accounts have more features than Pro accounts. When you switch to Pro, you’ll lose access to any Premium features:
- Activity log: You’ll lose access to the activity log. If you switch (back) to Premium, you’ll once again be able to see up to six months of history.
- Profitability report: You’ll lose access to the profitability report.
- SAML-based SSO (only available in Premium accounts, not in trials): You won’t be able to schedule a downgrade to Pro until you disable SAML.
- Saved and shared reports: You won’t be able to save or share reports, and all recurring reports and exports will be stopped. If you switch (back) to Premium, you’ll be able to see previously saved and shared reports again.
- Timesheet approval: You won’t be able to submit, approve, or withdraw approval from time and expense entries. Approved entries will remain locked. If you want to edit your approved timesheets after downgrading, you should withdraw approval before switching.
Note that in the case of downgrading from Premium to Pro, the switch isn’t immediate. Instead, you can schedule the change for your next regular subscription renewal date. You will continue to have access to Premium features until that date.
