How does time rounding work?
Administrators can enable time rounding in your account. You can set entries to round to the nearest or up to the nearest 6, 15, or 30 minutes.
When time rounding is enabled, each individual time entry is rounded based on the setting you choose, before the entries are totaled.
Reviewing and editing time rounding settings
Administrators can check your account's time rounding preference by heading to Settings (top right) and looking in the Preferences area for your Time rounding setting.
To edit your account's time rounding preferences:
- Head to Settings > Preferences.
- Click Edit preferences and adjust the Time rounding setting as you'd like.
- Then scroll down to Save preferences.
Note that this is an account-wide setting, so any adjustments here affect the way time is rounded for everyone on the account.
Where time rounding is applied
When time rounding is turned on, your team’s hours will be automatically rounded on:
- Summary time reports (under Reports > Time).
- On the Tasks and Team tabs of project analysis pages.
- On new invoices.
- Project budget calculations.
Where time rounding is not applied
Rounding is not applied to:
- Actual time entries on your timesheets.
- Detailed time reports (under Reports > Detailed time) you view in the app (CSV and Excel exports include both unrounded and rounded hours).
- The contractor report.
How time rounding affects historical entries
Changing the time rounding setting for your account will apply the rounding setting you choose to all time entries for the account. Existing invoices will not be affected, but reports where time rounding is applied will show the updated rounding settings for all time.
Time rounding and exports
Time report exports will have one column with unrounded values and one with rounded values to assist you in your reporting, so it may be useful to export time reports or detailed time reports to a CSV or Excel file so you can see both the actual hours and the hours rounded.
