Harvest plugin for ChatGPT

The Harvest plugin lets you use Harvest from a ChatGPT conversation: start and stop timers, review your time and budgets, and draft invoices, without switching to Harvest.

It runs on the Harvest MCP, the connection we already offer to AI assistants. The plugin is the published listing for it: same server, same permissions, same actions. If you already connected Harvest by hand, it keeps working.

Before you begin

An active Harvest account, and a ChatGPT account that can use plugins. On a shared workspace, settings may restrict which ones you can connect.

Connecting Harvest

  1. Open the Harvest plugin in ChatGPT.
  2. Follow the prompts to add Harvest and connect your account.
  3. Sign in to Harvest, select the account, and authorise the connection.

Each person connects with their own login, so each one sees only what their Harvest role allows.

What you can do

Depending on your permissions, you can:

  • Start and stop timers, log past time, and edit or delete time entries.
  • Review hours by project, client or person, and check project budgets.
  • Create or update projects, clients and tasks, and manage assignments.
  • Review invoices, and create draft invoices from specified items or uninvoiced time and expenses.
  • Record expenses and submit timesheets for approval.

The MCP article linked above has the full list and its caveats.

What it won't do

It isn't read-only: it can change records. Invoices are always created as drafts — review and send them in Harvest. It can't email invoices or take payments.

If something doesn't work

Try connecting again. If it keeps failing, contact us with the exact error and a screenshot. If your workspace blocks the plugin, ask your workspace administrator.
