Stopping a stuck or runaway timer
If a timer shows as running for an unusually long time and won't stop, it's usually a real timer left running on an earlier date — often started by a connected integration or the API — rather than a display glitch. Starting new timers won't clear it, because Harvest only auto-stops other running timers on the same day. To fix it, the person the timer belongs to should open the running-timer indicator in the top-left navigation and click Stop (the control is per-user, so it must be done from their own account). If Stop doesn't clear it, contact support and we can stop it on the backend. If it was started programmatically, also check the connected tool or automation so it doesn't recur.
